Bendinat Castle: An Elegant Luxury Wedding Weekend

Some weddings stay with you long after the last song fades. Gloria and Brendan’s wedding celebration at Bendinat Castle was one of them. A weekend defined by Mediterranean light, effortless elegance, and the kind of warmth that only comes when two worlds come together.

The wedding weekend began with a relaxed get-together by the pool, overlooking the coastline. The late-afternoon sun bathed the castle grounds in a golden glow, while violin and saxophone music drifted through the warm September air. Friends and family across the world arrived, embraced, and settled into the atmosphere.

Getting Ready at Bendinat Castle

On their wedding day, Gloria and Brendan began getting ready in the early afternoon. As the castle is the family home, they both used different rooms in the castle: Brendan with his friends, Gloria accompanied by her mother and sister. The familiar surroundings made this part of the day calm and relaxed, just the right basis for a great start to their wedding day at Bendinat Castle.

During our couple shoots, we make sure that you can spend as much time as possible with your families and guests. That’s why we spread the portraits out over the day and use different areas of the location, from the castle itself to the garden. This creates varied and natural photos without interrupting the flow of the wedding day.

Ceremony & Cocktail Hour

The free wedding ceremony took place in front of the historic stone arch of Bendinat Castle. As guests arrived, they were welcomed by the bride’s father in the castle courtyard, where they could enjoy a welcome drink before taking their seats in the ceremony area.

Before the couple entered, Gloria’s sister and Brendan’s best man said a few personal words to the guests. A close friend from the USA then took over the ceremony. During his speech, he described the bride and groom as his ‘chosen family’, which was very emotional. Afterwards, the members of their families entered. First Brendan with his mother, followed by Gloria’s mother with Brendan’s father and Brendan’s sisters with their families. And finally Gloria together with her father.

After a short, personal ceremony, Gloria and Brendan stepped onto the castle balcony, where a large confetti cannon was set off. The confetti in the warm September air made for one of the most memorable moments of the day.
The guests then congratulated the couple before heading to the second floor of the estate for cocktail hour. There, drinks, canapés and plenty of time to chat and settle in awaited them.

The Evening Celebration

The dinner took place outdoors under one of the old Australian trees at Bendinat Castle, trees that have been around as long as the castle itself. Gloria and Brendan returned to their guests in new outfits and were greeted with loud applause. Before the meal, the fathers and the couple themselves gave speeches in English and Spanish. They talked about how they met, their lives and the significance of their union. Gloria and Brendan then thanked their families for their support during the planning.

After dinner, the wedding cake was cut, surrounded by bright fountains in the background. It was a moment that perfectly captured the mood. Immediately afterwards, they began their spontaneous first dance, which quickly turned into an open dance floor. Later, the party moved to the greenhouse of Bendinat Castle – ideal for live music and lively dancing.
Around midnight, the party moved inside the castle. The bar became the meeting place, drinks were served and cigars were handed out to the men, who smoked them outside the castle. A relaxed end to a wonderful day.

However, experienced photographers don’t rely on sunset alone. To create a more varied and creative collection of portraits, we plan several short sessions throughtout the day, for exampe during the getting ready, before or after the ceremony, or in quiet moments between the celebration. This approach ensures a relaxed experience an results in a wider range of lighting mood, backdrops and natural moments.
